The Best Mother's Day EVER!

I hate Mother's Day!  Don't judge me...I do. It's nothing more than a reminder of how much work that's done and is almost never recognized, or appreciated. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE being a mother and it's one of the best blessings God has ever given me, the gift of being a mother. See, I'm a single mother and have been for the past 16+ years.  Honestly speaking, I'm tired of making all of the decisions, running a household, working a full time job, commuting over 100 miles a day to and from work, only to get home and be faced with a mountain of laundry, a growing young man looking for dinner, and let's not even began with the dust pile up on the living room wood floors, 3 bathrooms that need cleaning and endless other household chores that always get pushed to "next week"!  As 2018 Mother's Day was approaching, I tried my best to push it to the back of mind and not think about it, until May 3, 2018 a Thursday night...

Once the prayer at the end of bible study concluded, I rushed back to my seat to retrieve my things so I could hurry up and get out of there. I heard my name being called "COLISHA, DON'T LEAVE, FIRST NEEDS TO SPEAK TO YOU". Welp, there goes my great escape! I grabbed my things, and headed to the front of the church where Minister First Lady was standing talking and greeting the other members of the church.  I stood by the window seal and watched until she was able to take a minute to speak to me.  "I need you to say the prayer for the Mother's Day service on Sunday". I just looked at her for a brief moment...all kinds of thoughts were running through my mind at that particular time.  Why me Lord? If you only knew how I felt about Mother's Day?  I wasn't planning on attending! These women don't even like me, now I have to stand before ALL of them and pray???  Min. First Lady proceeded to tell me, "I've been in prayer, and God showed me your face, no one else's...yours".  One thing that I do know is Min. First would never do or say anything without praying about it first. The fact that she reached out to me was nothing short of a complete blessing to me.  I mean, my God...Lord of Lords, King of Kings, found me worthy to put my face in HIS vision for her,  how could I tell God "no"?

The breakthrough I was an eye witness to in how HE turned my hatred for Mother's Day around, is un-explainable. God had a purpose and a plan for that Sunday, he gave me an assignment that I would have completely missed had I not been asked to be in church on May 13, 2018. Prayer changes things...What manifested in that church on May 13, not only was a total blessing to me, but also delivered other women who didn't like to celebrate that day and/or grieved because if was nothing more than a memory of those mothers that were no longer with us. Prayer changes things...God is sooo amazing, HIS ways are not our ways. HIS thoughts are not our thoughts...HIS love for each and every one of us is truly amazing.  Prayer changes things...How he shows and extends  HIS love towards us is absolutely mind blowing.  The time God takes to show you, you are his, and he cares about what upsets you, what hurts you, and what you have trouble with letting go. HE cares about us...HIS love sustains us, I love HIM because he FIRST LOVED ME!
